A Safari Adventure: Four Friends, Four Countries, Infinite Memories

Posted on Thu June 6, 2024.

From the vibrant cityscapes of Cape Town to the wild heart of Africa, this safari was more than just a journey; it was a tapestry of incredible moments and lifelong memories. Dan, Linda, Al, and Phyllis left with their hearts full and spirits soaring, having experienced the very best that Southern Africa has to offer.

Embark on an unforgettable journey with our latest hosted safari, where Hylton and I had the opportunity to guide and host, friends Dan, Linda, Al, and Phyllis. They had the opportunity to experience the thrill of a lifetime across four stunning Southern African countries.

Cape Town: The Mother City

Our adventure kicked off in the vibrant heart of South Africa, Cape Town. With Blouberg Beach as our home base, we dove headfirst into the city's charms. The highlights? A breathtaking cable car ride up Table Mountain, offering panoramic views that left us speechless. A scenic drive along the iconic Chapman’s Peak Drive was nothing short of spectacular.

Next, we made friends with the adorable penguins at Boulders Beach – a heartwarming sight! Our Cape Peninsula tour culminated at the dramatic mist-covered cliffs of Cape Point, where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans embrace.

Wine Wonderland: Stellenbosch

Day two saw us indulging in the finer things in life – wine! We explored the renowned wine regions of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek. At Beyerskloof Wine Estate, we sampled the robust Pinotage, a true South African gem. Our sommelier, Jacques had us enthralled, as he took us on a taste journey like no other. Lunch at Waterford Estate was a gourmet delight, paired with exquisite wines and our day ended at the luxurious Delaire Graff Estate, where fine wine, breathtaking scenery, and stunning art surrounded us.

Into the Wild: Kruger National Park

Our journey then took us to the legendary Kruger National Park. Staying at The Orpen Kruger Lodge, we had the perfect base to explore the central region of the park. The wildlife sightings were nothing short of phenomenal – elephants, giraffes, and even a cheetah made special appearances, much to our delight.

But the magic didn't stop there. We ventured into the Balule Game Reserve, where Nyala Safari Lodge offered us a private oasis. Here, we had jaw-dropping encounters with white rhinos, a male lion on his nocturnal patrol, and a majestic leopard as it casually lounged in a tree.

Victoria Falls: The Smoke That Thunders
Next up was Zimbabwe's crown jewel, Victoria Falls. The group was awestruck by the sheer power and beauty of this World Heritage Site. A breakfast boat cruise on the mighty Zambezi River added a serene touch to the adventure, with hippos and crocodiles joining for breakfast (from a safe distance, of course!).

Botswana’s Elephant Paradise: Chobe National Park
In Botswana, the group delved into the wonders of Chobe National Park, renowned for its massive herds of elephants. Safari drives here were a feast for the eyes, with wildlife appearing around every bend. A large male lion offered exceptional photographic opportunities as he walked through the soft sands in search of his pride.

Luxury Afloat: Namibia’s Caprivi RegionThe grand finale was a luxurious houseboat cruise along Namibia's Caprivi Strip. From the comfort of the deck, the group enjoyed unparalleled game viewing, watching animals gather at the water's edge, and enjoying sundowners as herds of elephants and buffalo made their way to the water's edge.

We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to craft an unforgettable trip for these four friends, who have also become our friends. Until the next adventure, keep exploring and stay wild!!
